Software Stuff

This page is under major construction...

Here's where you can read about my efforts to create some software useful to other hams. My main development environments is Linux (specifically, I like Ubuntu) and FreeBSD (7.0 ROCKS); my favorite languages are Java, Ada, and Python. Recently, (as of late 2006) I have begun using the Eclipse Rich Client Platform for development of native GUI applications. It is very similar to Swing development, except the UI widgets are native. That means it's faster and it looks like the rest of the system on which it runs. I like the Eclipse RCP so much so that all my development is focused there. Java provides great productivity, and it has a wealth of third-party support.

I have a few irons in the fire:

ARESLog
AresLog is a logging program specially designed for ARES use, inspired by my experience working on the Hi Meadow fire in June of 2000.
The Splat! Webapp
A webapp for Splat! antenna analysis.
NEClipse
A graphical front-end to the NEC2 (or NEC4) antenna modelling engine.
